 What are irregular menses?

Generally a women gets her period in a span of 25 to 30 days amongst most women, menstrual period lasts from 4 to 7 days. But some women do not get periods in 25 to 30 days they always miss their periods beyond 30 days. Some women will bleed for about 10 days and then some women do not bleed at all.

Causes of irregular periods

  • PCOD:- Some women have polycystic ovary in which one follicle does not grow and rupture thus the women does not bleed leading to an irregular menstrual cycle.
  • Lifestyle:- In case of people who have habit of smoking, drinking, usage of drugs thus can cause irregular menstruation.
  • Stress :- Sometimes in stressful conditions the hormonal level changes and hence periods can get irregular.
  • Endometriosis :– Women with endometriosis can have irregular and extremely painful menstrual cycle
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease:- If the pelvis is infected it is called pelvic inflammatory disease and it causes irregular menstruations.
  • Uterine Fibroids:- Sometimes uterine fibroids also cause irregular menstruation. One of the causes of irregular menstruation is intra uterine fibroids.
