What is IUI?
IUI is the process in which sperms are washed and inserted in the uterus with the help of a catheter. During natural intercourse sperms are released in the vagina, whereas in IUI they are put inside the uterus near fallopian tubes. Thus IUI will increase the chances of conception. In IUI number of healthy sperms reaching the fallopian tubes increases and thus this increases the chances of fertilization.

Factors that affect IUI success rate:-
Age: there are better chances in women who are less than 35 years of the age.
Fallopian tubes: Only women with open and healthy fallopian can conceive with IUI.
Sperm count: IUI will be successful only if the sperm count and the motility in husband semen is normal.
Genetic: Chances of IUI are high if both husband and wife are genetically healthy.
Why does IUI fail ( reasons for IUI failure)?
Poor quality eggs:- With age number of age and quality of eggs both decreases thus the chances of IUI failure increases.
Poor sperm quality:- If the motility and count of the sperm is less and DNA fragmentation in the sperm is high then it will lead to IUI failure.
Thin endometrial lining:- If the lining of the endometrium is less than 9mm the embryo will not implant thus leading to IUI failure
